For most people, a glass of wine is enjoyed without stopping to enjoy its full bouquet and mouthfeel. However, for other people, these two aspects of wine are as crucial as the flavor profile. In order to experience the best that a glass of wine can offer, there are three easy steps that you should perform.

First, remember to serve the wine at the best temperature. Wine will react to its environment. Common knowledge implies that white wines should be chilled and red wines should be served at room temperature. But the truth is, this will not ensure that you have the very best tasting wine. Various wines require different temperatures for the wine to open and deliver its best bouquet of aromas. For example, Beaujolais, which is a fruity, light red, ideally should be served about ten degrees lower than room temperature. An intense, rich Bordeaux ideally should be served about 2-3 degrees lower than room temperature. The normal range for storing reds is between 52-65 degrees. The higher temperatures of that range are best for robust reds. The usual range for white wines is between 45-50 degrees. Second, always remember to aerate the wine. Aerating wine, particularly the younger wines, will help produce a more balanced and smoother wine.
